In Diablo 2’s expansion you have to have Diablo 2.
Diablo 2 included extra characters that you could only get by buying the expansion, which is very similar to having an extra character only in the SE. For example, expansions are extra content that you only get by paying extra.
After looking at the available choices, I've narrowed it down to a choice out of three.Despite my hating it, I can see the other side of the issue. I've been playing guys in my Where I Play threads so far, and I think it's time for a bit of a change. Or rather, instead of creating your own character you have to choose from a selection of preexisting characters. In the meantime, though, I took a quick look at character creation, and it seems it doesn't exist. I haven't actually started playing the game just yet, so it may take me a day or two to get everything sorted and make my first 'real' post. Now, I'm going to try to do things a little differently in this thread. Regardless of why it didn't grab me last time, I'm going to play it through for your entertainment now. I mentioned at the end of the KOTOR II thread that I had very, very briefly played Jade Empire, but I really can't even remember what it was like, let alone the reason I put it away (I think maybe I didn't like the combat system or something?), so I'm basically coming in to the game fresh.
